Plant-Based Snacks: Delicious Kale Chip Recipe

Kale chips are a healthy, crispy snack that's easy to make at home. Replace those potato chips with kale and follow this recipe for a tasty treat!

Ingredients:

1 bunch of kale

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 teaspoon sea salt (adjust to taste)

Optional: other seasonings like garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, or nutritional yeast

Cooking Instructions:

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).


Prepare the Kale:

Wash and thoroughly dry the kale. It's important that the kale is completely dry to achieve maximum crispiness.

Remove the leaves from the thick stems and tear them into bite-sized pieces.


Season the Kale:

Place the kale pieces in a large bowl.

Drizzle the olive oil over the kale. Use your hands to massage the oil into the leaves, ensuring each piece is evenly coated.

Sprinkle the sea salt (and any optional seasonings) over the kale and toss to distribute evenly.


Bake the Kale:

Arrange the kale pieces in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Avoid overlapping the leaves to ensure they bake evenly.

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, checking frequently after 15 minutes to ensure they don't burn. The kale chips are ready when they are crisp and slightly golden around the edges.


Cool and Enjoy:

Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the kale chips cool on the sheet for a few minutes.

Enjoy immediately or store in an airtight container for up to a few days.


Tips for Perfect Kale Chips:


Dry the Kale Thoroughly: Any moisture on the kale will cause it to steam and become soggy instead of crisp.

Even Coating: Make sure each piece of kale is evenly coated with oil and seasonings for uniform flavor and texture.

Don't Overlap: Spreading the kale out in a single layer ensures even baking.

Watch Closely: Kale chips can go from perfectly crispy to burnt very quickly, so keep a close eye on them as they bake.
